Calculating Returns And Lazy You

By:MoneyChai Chai Pe Charcha Published: 7 Mar, 2021

Oh Lazy you.. You work in a corporate structure hoping to progress faster in your career. The entire day, you work on excel and PPTs. You know all about pivot tables, VLOOKUP, filters, advanced filters for the work you do for managing your daily life.

But you never even try to learn basic formula of XIRR and IRR to calculate returns on any financial product.

An insurance agent comes, sells you a policy showing returns of 10% when the actual returns are just 5%. You don’t try to learn basic formulas of calculating returns. On top of it, you don’t even bother to go to Google and read the product reviews.

Mutual funds agents come and sell you regular plans showing low NAV of regular plans and high NAV of direct plans. They also show you how you get more units in regular plans of mutual funds. As a result, you end up getting tricked into purchasing regular plans. But you never research why the direct plans of mutual funds are better than regular plans of mutual funds.

10-15 minutes of learning and research is enough to save you from falling in the traps of deceitful agents.

But you will not do that, Oh Lazy you 😊
