LIC Premium Receipt and Payment Online – LIC Pay Direct

By:MoneyChai Insurance Last Updated: 19 Mar, 2018

With the fiscal year ending, the Tax savings is definitely the most important thing in everyone’s mind.  Most of you must have already bought insurance policies to save tax under Section 80C for the fiscal year 2018-2019 and I am confident that  out of those insurance policies, LIC will be on top of the leader board with maximum people opting for at least one policy from LIC. As you submit your tax declarations to the concerned HR department, they will also be requiring your  LIC premium receipt as the proof for the investments made.

The question that comes to mind is how do I download all the LIC premium receipts to be submitted it to the HR department. Wait!!! Before we cover on how to download and print the LIC premium receipt online, let’s first look at the online mode of LIC premium payment through LIC pay direct that is available on LIC e-Services customer portal. I hope that you are not thinking about going to the LIC Branch to get LIC premium paid certificate online.

Do you think that in today’s digital world one needs to actually go to the branch to make premium payments?  I would say – No, you really don’t need to do that.  You can  pay your LIC premium online and also get the LIC premium receipt online.

Long gone are those days when our parents used to visit LIC branch to pay their LIC premium and to get the LIC premium receipt. I have seen my parents going to the LIC office, paying premiums, collecting LIC premium receipts and saving every LIC premium receipt neatly in a file. During tax declaration period, they would produce all the neatly saved premium receipts as evidence of the investments made with LIC. There was another mode of premium payment which was very prevalent during the 80s and 90s.  We had LIC agents collecting premium from your doorstep and making the payments on your behalf.  The agents would then collect the premium receipts and hand it over to you at your doorsteps.  This was a more convenient mode since the whole process was outsourced to the agents and you would get everything at your doorsteps without going through the whole trouble.

We still have that option where the agents would make LIC premium payment on your behalf and collect the receipts.  Additionally, we now have the option of making the payments online as well.

Since you are well aware of the offline mode of LIC payment made by visiting the nearest branch, we will not be discussing them  in this article.

Let’s now look at how to make the LIC premium payment online. LIC is the largest insurer in India and has a very strong online platform where customers have the ability to manage multiple activities in terms of their account portfolios.  This includes activities such as making premium payments online through LIC pay direct, checking ones LIC policy status online, and downloading and printing of LIC premium receipt.
